My cousin called me in Lisbon this morning to tell me about Chance. I didn't know him well, only through family talk over the years, but I remember my cousin saying what a gentle kid he always was. My heart is with his mother right now, I can't imagine carrying all these unanswered questions on top of grief. Sending her strength from so far away.

Called my mom the minute I saw this and she went quiet for a second, said he'd basically been the sound of the Vatican her whole life. I only knew him from a clip that went around about him covering five different popes, but that stuck with me. 93 and still filing stories, that's wild.
