ok so i never knew this guy existed until like last year, found a clip of him talking about his honey business down in marlborough sounds, something about building papa kainga for his family after he left radio, and i watched like six more interviews after that because the way he talked about just loving people got me, i run a small online shop and i kept thinking about how he said he was addicted to people, that stuck with me more than it should have for someone i never met. anyway heard today he passed at 73 after a short illness and i dont know, feels weird being sad about a guy from the other side of the world i only knew through youtube rabbit holes. edit: just read he did 15 years of afternoon talkback, that's wild longevity

my dad called me about this, said the name and I didn't even recognize it at first. 1977. shot in a bar over something he did defending people in court. that's a long time to carry a thing like that as a family.
