okay i keep starting this comment and deleting it. i think it's because i can't remember the first time i heard Ladysmith Black Mambazo, it just feels like they were always on in my house, my dad had Graceland on a cassette that lived in the car for YEARS. i didn't even know the tenor's name was Albert until today honestly, i just knew the sound, that high clean voice sitting on top of all the others. 77 years old, that's a whole long life given to one thing. anyway i'm not even sure what i'm trying to say except that it's strange to grieve someone you only ever heard through a car speaker. edit: just read he was with the group 55 years. 55. that stopped me

What strikes me most is how he never put up walls between himself and people asking questions. He answered them all carefully, even the amateurs. That's the kind of scholar we need more of. Rest well, Hasegawa sensei.

My mum used to say Dumbledore had all the answers. I'm so grateful Michael Gambon got to play that role for so many of us. What a gift.
