For Country Joe McDonald · 6h ago

84 is a good long run, and he spent most of it saying the same true thing until people finally listened. Thinking of Kathy, 43 years is no small thing either.

For John Delaney · 25d ago

My dad rang me at 6am my time just to tell me Delaney had gone, he'd have wanted me to know before I saw it online. Grew up two streets from Slough Town, used to stand behind the goal as a kid watching him captain that side. 84, phone call from home, that's how I got it.

For Frances May West Byers · 21 Sept 2026

My mum rang just to tell me about this, said a woman in Virginia made it to 111 and she couldn't stop thinking about it. Imagine remembering a world before radio was even in the house.

For Recah Trinidad · 13 Sept 2026

A man who understood that gardens and stadiums are both places where you have to stand still and watch. He will be missed by those who know the difference between looking and seeing.

For Michel Paulin · 8 Sept 2026

Theatre was life, palpitation, immediate happiness. That's what he said about it in 2008. Didn't sound like someone who'd ever stop meaning it, and he didn't.

For Nisar Wayanad · 5 Sept 2026

Never saw him live but his YouTube channel was a Friday ritual. That voice could fill a room you weren't even in.

For Rudolph A. Marcus · 1 Aug 2026

Lived to see his inverted region prediction confirmed and then some. Bit like planting a tree and watching it grow into a forest, except the tree was about electrons.

For Alain Delon · 12 Aug 2025

Visconti's muse, Melville's icon, and impossibly handsome. The 1960s wouldn't have looked the way they did without him. French cinema has lost its finest ornament.

He really did, some of those old stage recordings are pure comic instinct.
