Used to catch UMKC volleyball highlights online a few years back when I was deep into following college sports stats for no reason at all, and her name always stuck with me. Saw this on a Kansas City news feed tonight and just sat with it for a minute. 2026, a shooting, that's all it says. Awful.

My dad had a Trunk Records compilation with a sleeve Paul Flack designed, I must have stared at that artwork a hundred times as a kid without knowing the name behind it. Heard about this scrolling through the news tonight and just sat with it for a while. 55 is no age at all. Thinking of his mum and his kids.

What a gift he had for showing us the humanity in complicated men. Born to a priest, he spent his life finding grace in the hardest roles. Will miss that presence on screen.
