For Henry Lee · 4d ago

Never really followed his career beyond the headlines, but the Helle Crafts case always stuck with me, a conviction with no body found, which says something about the work he did. Not someone I thought about much until today.

For Nikos Trypatsas · 6d ago

Only read about him this week after a piece on Cyprus's capital markets came up in something I was researching on Mediterranean economic history. Thirty two years at one exchange, the first employee they ever hired, that's a whole working life given to building something from nothing. Sorry I came to this so late.

For Marcos Rodríguez Pantoja · 16d ago

Watched Entrelobos on a rainy Sunday with my dad back in 2011, neither of us said a word for ten minutes after it ended. 80 years old. That line about smelling like people because he wore cologne has stuck with me for over a decade.

For Wai "Bill" Jun Yee · 21d ago

My grandfather used to drive us out Route 40 to Ding Ho every time we visited Columbus, same booth, same order of wor sue gai. I was at my mom's kitchen table when she texted me it was Mr. Yee who'd died, and it knocked the wind out of me a little, that place was older than both my parents. Ninety one years, decades behind that counter.

For Bob Agee · 25d ago

Told my dad and he just went quiet for a second, said Bob Agee was the reason he ended up at OBU in the 80s. I'd never heard the name before today but hearing my dad talk about him like that said everything.

For Náfer Durán · 25d ago

My neighbor was from Valledupar and she'd play Sin ti on her cassette deck every Sunday while we worked the garden beds, translating the lines about Mompox for me line by line. That's the only way a guy from Missouri ever heard of Náfer Durán, and it stuck for thirty years. 93 is a long life to give the accordion. Thinking of Rosibel and all those children today.

For Maruf Hossain Sajib · 15 Sept 2026

I never knew his work personally, but reading about him after he died, the picture that emerged was of someone who genuinely loved ideas. Even in his busiest years on set, colleagues say he was already thinking about the next story. That kind of restless imagination deserves remembering.

For PK Kerala Varma · 8 Sept 2026

A pharmacist who became a Zamorin and chose to be cremated with everyone else. That kind of quietness says more than most speeches ever could.

For Dory Funk Jr. · 21 Aug 2026

Learned more from watching him teach at the Conservatory than I did in years of other gyms. He had this way of making you see the story in every hold. The wrestling world just got a lot smaller.

For Phyllida Law · 4 Aug 2026

From Bristol Old Vic to the National Theatre, from costume design to those late books. A woman who understood the whole world of theatre, not just her own part in it. We won't see her like again.
