Amanda Mack

Amanda Mack was a college volleyball player known for her rise through one of the sport's most closely watched youth pipelines before playing at the NCAA Division I level for three different programs. She was an outside hitter who first drew national attention as part of the inaugural volleyball class at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, a move she made for her senior year of high school after having played earlier in Maryville. That season earned her a place in the 2024 Under Armour Next All-America game, one of the sport's premier showcases for graduating high school talent.

Mack began her college career at the University of Cincinnati in 2024, appearing in two matches as a freshman. She then transferred to Eastern Kentucky University, where in 2025 she became a regular contributor as a sophomore, playing in 29 matches and making 26 starts for the Colonels. Over 98 sets that season she averaged 2.08 kills and 0.58 digs per set, with a season high of 16 kills in a match against Cincinnati and 14 kills in games against Akron and Austin Peay. Her performances that fall earned her a spot on the Atlantic Sun Conference Honor Roll. In 2026 she transferred again, this time to the College of the Holy Cross, where her roster page listed her as an outside hitter wearing number 17.

Though she had not yet become a household name outside college volleyball circles, Mack was well known within the sport as a rising player who had moved through some of its most competitive environments, from IMG Academy's academies to three Division I programs in as many years. Her online presence, including an Instagram following of thousands, reflected the attention she had built as a high level recruit and college athlete.

Amanda Mack died on September 16, 2026, at the age of 20. Her death was announced by the Eastern Kentucky University volleyball program in a social media post, which is how many of her former teammates, coaches, and fans first learned the news. As of this writing, the cause of death has not been made public, and neither Holy Cross nor Eastern Kentucky has released further details about the circumstances. Tributes from the volleyball community began circulating quickly after the announcement, with former teammates and coaches from her time at IMG Academy, Cincinnati, Eastern Kentucky, and Holy Cross expressing shock and grief at the loss of a player many considered to still be near the beginning of her career.
