Angela Michelle Perkins was a longtime teacher from Independence, Louisiana, who spent her career encouraging her students and her life caring for the people closest to her. She died on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the age of 53. Her death was announced by Seale Funeral Service of Denham Springs, Louisiana, which published her family obituary and invited friends to share remembrances online.

Born on February 9, 1973, Angela made Independence her longtime home in Tangipahoa Parish. For many years she worked as a teacher, a vocation that suited a woman remembered as truly caring and devoted to encouraging the minds of her students. Those who knew her described a presence that combined patience in the classroom with a deep sense of responsibility toward family.

She was an active member of St. Helena Catholic Church in Amite City, Louisiana, where her faith and parish community were part of the fabric of her daily life. The family later planned a celebration of life with a mass at that same church, underscoring how closely her identity was tied to parish and place.

Though she had no children of her own, she loved and cherished her nieces and nephews as if they were hers. She shared a particularly special bond with her niece Margaurite. Family and friends also remembered Angela as a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who devoted her life to caring for her parents. That quiet dedication defined how many people knew her, as much as any professional title.

Angela was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Domiano Perkins; her sister, Mary Margaret Perkins; and her nephew, Mitch Perkins. She is survived by her father, Mack James Perkins Sr.; her brother, Mack Perkins Jr.; nieces and nephews Jami and Joey Reid, Ashley and Blaine Miller, Nicholas Perkins, Joseph Sirchia, and Margaurite and Rodger Granger; and great nieces and nephews Kenli, Karlee, Kolton, Taylar, Case, Clay, Cam, Ashleigh, Ashton, Ahydon, Ryder, and Maddix.

Friends were invited to share condolences through Seale Funeral Service. Angela Perkins leaves a memory of classroom encouragement, parish devotion, and a family life centered on care for parents, nieces, and nephews in Independence and Amite City.

Read this on my porch this morning with my coffee going cold. Fifty three, no children of her own, and still gave everything she had to those nieces and nephews. That's the kind of teacher and the kind of aunt this world needs more of. Rest well, Angela.
