Gil Aducal Morales, known to Filipino audiences as Ate Gay, was a comedian, singer, actor and television host whose affectionate impersonation of the actress Nora Aunor made him one of the best loved performers on the Manila comedy bar circuit. He co-hosted the GMA variety show Comedy Bar and the TV5 noontime show Wowowillie, headlined his own arena concert and was known for his comic mashups of popular songs. He died on Sunday 1 November 2026, aged 55, after a long fight with cancer and a final illness, his family announced.

He was born on 12 August 1971 in Manila. Before comedy he sang with the Singing Cooks and Waiters of the Barrio Fiesta restaurant, and in 1995 he began performing in comedy bars, first at Music Box. His stage name was a playful nod to Nora Aunor, whose nickname was Ate Guy. He said he became her fan when he started working and was grateful that she supported her impersonators rather than stopping them.

He became a fixture at the comedy bars Klownz and Zirkoh, founded by Allan K., and in 2009 he invited the young comedian Boobay from Baguio to perform at Klownz, helping him establish himself in Manila. From 2010 to 2011 he co-hosted Comedy Bar on GMA alongside Eugene Domingo and Allan K. On 30 November 2012 he headlined his first major concert, Ako Naman... Ate Gay sa Arena, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, with Nora Aunor herself as special guest. In 2013 he co-hosted Wowowillie on TV5, and from 2023 to 2024 he played Elsa in the drama series Batang Quiapo.

His health became public in 2021, when he was treated for severe pneumonia and then toxic epidermal necrolysis. In September 2025 he revealed a diagnosis of stage 4 mucoepidermoid carcinoma, a rare cancer. In October 2026 he held a living funeral at Forest Lake Memorial Park in Biñan, Laguna, surrounded by family and friends. Two days later he was rushed to Asian Hospital and Medical Center with septic shock and acute respiratory failure from pneumonia, and on 29 October he suffered a stroke.

His family said he passed away peacefully, surrounded by them, after bravely fighting for his life, and thanked the public for its prayers and financial help. Wake and funeral details were to be announced.

In 2013 he co-hosted the TV5 noontime variety show Wowowillie. From 2023 to 2024 he played Elsa in the action drama series Batang Quiapo. He was also widely known for his comedic mashups of popular songs.
