My mum kept a stack of old NZ fashion mags from the 80s in a box in her closet, and Kirsty Lay was on three of the covers. I used to flip through them on rainy days at her place in Christchurch when I visited as a kid. Didn't know her name meant anything until I saw this news. Strange to find out someone from those glossy pages was real and just died.

Was reading up on Pacific transport policy for a project and his name kept coming up, the LTA board chair pushing for a sustainable transportation system. Then I saw he'd died. Didn't know him at all, just strange to read someone's plans for the future the same day you find out there isn't one.
