Chaudhry Muhammad Hanif Jutt was a Pakistani politician from Chichawatni in Sahiwal District, Punjab, who served three times as a Member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab. Born on 9 November 1963 in Chichawatni, then in West Pakistan, he graduated from the University of the Punjab in 1986 and built a long career in provincial politics rooted in his home constituency and the networks of the Pakistan Muslim League.
Hanif first entered the Punjab Assembly in the February 2008 general election as a candidate of the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) from what was then Constituency PP-226 (Sahiwal-VII). He later joined the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and was re-elected from the same seat in the 2013 general election, serving until May 2018. After a period out of the House, he returned to the Assembly in the October 2025 by-election as the PML-N member for Constituency PP-203 Sahiwal-VI, the Chichawatni seat, and held that position until his death the following September.
His public record is that of a district-level organiser rather than a national media celebrity. Within PML-N circles in Chichawatni he was a familiar figure, part of a political family that also includes his brothers Chaudhry Muhammad Tufail, a Member of the National Assembly and Parliamentary Secretary, and Chaudhry Muhammad Arshad Jutt. Local reporting after his death described him as a three-time MPA whose work stayed close to constituency politics, party workers and the voters of Sahiwal District.
Chaudhry Muhammad Hanif Jutt died of a sudden cardiac arrest on 17 September 2026, at the age of 62. Funeral prayers were held the same day at 5 p.m. at Rai Ali Nawaz Stadium in Chichawatni, drawing family members, party colleagues and supporters. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed deep grief and offered condolences to the bereaved family. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif likewise conveyed sorrow over the death of the PML-N assembly member. His passing closed a provincial career that had spanned more than a decade and a half across three terms in the Punjab Assembly and left a gap in Chichawatni's PML-N leadership.
