so this is a weird one for me to even be writing about because I'm not Greek, I'm from Michigan, but my buddy Nikos who runs the diner down the street used to put Min archizeis ti mourmoura on the little TV behind the counter on slow nights, no subtitles, I didn't understand a word, and he'd just laugh and try to explain the joke to me while flipping eggs. found out today the guy who directed a ton of those episodes died, 51, heart thing, and I actually texted Nikos before I even really processed why I cared. he said the news hit Greece hard today. anyway I never saw a single full episode start to finish and somehow I'm sad about this guy I never knew existed a week ago. rest easy to the family I guess, that show meant something to a lot of people who aren't even from there

Dionysis Ferendinos was a Greek television and film director best known for the long running ALPHA comedy series Min archizeis ti mourmoura (Don't Start Nagging) and the MEGA family comedy Echo paidia (I Have Kids). He died suddenly in Athens on 26 October 2026 at the age of 51, three days before the premiere of the new MEGA series he had been directing.
Born in Athens in 1975, Ferendinos trained at the Stavrakos film school, one of the best known private schools of cinema and television in Greece. In the late 1990s he made a few small appearances as an actor before turning to work behind the camera. He began in the script department and as an assistant director on major Greek feature films, among them Pantelis Voulgaris's Brides (Nyfes) in 2004 and the family adventure Nisos 2: The Hunt for the Lost Treasure in 2011.
His longest association was with Min archizeis ti mourmoura, one of the most popular Greek comedies of its decade. He joined the production in 2013 as an assistant director and from 2016 to 2022 directed dozens of its episodes. He went on to direct Echo paidia for MEGA, and his credits also included Yperocha plasmata. At the time of his death he was in the middle of filming I ntanta tis geitonias (The Neighbourhood Nanny), a new MEGA series due to premiere on 29 October 2026.
On 26 October 2026 Ferendinos suffered a cardiac arrest at his home in the southern suburbs of Athens, where his partner was with him. Reports said he had complained of severe back pain shortly before and had recently been having problems with his blood pressure. He was taken unconscious to the Asklepieion hospital in Voula, where he was pronounced dead. The ambulance reportedly took about 40 minutes to arrive, and the National Centre for Emergency Care (EKAV) opened a preliminary inquiry into the delay. Actor and writer Lambros Fisfis, star of Echo paidia, was among those who went to the hospital.
MEGA said its family bid a sad farewell to a beloved friend and collaborator. His sister Xenia shared a childhood photograph of the two of them and wrote that she had never imagined having to say goodbye to her only little brother. He was the father of two children. His funeral was set for Thursday 29 October 2026 at noon at the new cemetery of Glyfada.
