My uncle fought the same kind of thing for two years before it took him, so reading that this man kept working through it until the end hit different. 63 is nothing. Praying for his wife and kids tonight.

Georg Moesta was a German lawyer, Rhineland-Palatinate constitutional court judge and longtime Christian Democratic local politician in the Mayen-Koblenz district. He died on 13 October 2026 at the age of 63 after a serious illness.
Born on 12 June 1963 in Boppard, he took his Abitur at the Kurfurst-Salentin-Gymnasium in Andernach in 1982 and studied law at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. He passed both state law examinations with distinction before the Rhineland-Palatinate examining board, in 1988 and 1991. From May 1991 he practised as a solicitor in Koblenz. He was managing partner of Dr. Dornbach, Moesta & Partner from 1993 to 2011, then from 2012 managing partner of Martini Mogg Vogt, with offices in Koblenz, Bonn and Mainz. His practice focused on company law, succession and mergers and acquisitions; he was a Fachanwalt for inheritance law and a certified executor (AGT). He also sat on the advisory board of Gerolsteiner Brunnen and on the boards of Sparkasse Koblenz and Kreissparkasse Mayen, work recognised by the Johann Christian Eberle Medal for savings-bank service in 2004.
The Landtag elected him on 31 January 2019 to the Verfassungsgerichtshof Rheinland-Pfalz with effect from 7 February 2019. After his death the court said that despite his illness he continued to serve with full force until the end, enriching deliberations with expertise and a conciliatory manner, and that his death was a painful loss for the bench.
Politically he served on Plaidt's local council from 1984 to 2017, entered the Mayen-Koblenz Kreistag in 1989, and from 1994 chaired the CDU Kreistag group for decades. He chaired the CDU Pellenz from 1989 to 2017 and sat on the CDU Rhineland-Palatinate state board from 2008 to 2012. In 2010 he received the Freiherr vom Stein plaque, the state's highest award for communal political engagement. Rhein-Zeitung called him one of the most active and distinctive CDU politicians in northern Rhineland-Palatinate. He lived in Plaidt with his wife, Landtag member Anette Moesta; they had a daughter born in 2003 and a son born in 2010. District and court tributes stressed his long service to Mayen-Koblenz and to constitutional adjudication, and offered sympathy to his family.
