My mom called and told me about this one. Three kids. 26 years old. Whatever happened to her before, that's not who she was, that's just what was done to her.

Kirah Sines was a 26 year old woman from Bagshot, Surrey, whose sudden death in June 2024 made national headlines in the United Kingdom, first as an unexplained death that prompted a murder arrest, and then, more than two years later, as the subject of a coroner's inquest that concluded she died from an accidental multi-drug overdose. She was not a public figure by career or achievement. She became known to the wider public only through the circumstances of her death and the inquest that followed, which exposed a life marked by serious childhood trauma and long-term vulnerability.
According to evidence given at her inquest, Ms Sines was born on 24 August 1997 and, as a teenager, was the victim of a serious sexual assault at the age of 15, with the man responsible later convicted and jailed. She went on to experience post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression and episodes of paranoia, and had been waiting since 2021 for an autism spectrum assessment. She was a mother of three children, though the inquest heard that she had lost custody of them, and she experienced periods of homelessness, substance dependence, domestic abuse and exploitation in the years before she died. Her sister Daniella told the inquest that Kirah was a much loved sister, daughter and devoted mother who brought a great deal into the lives of the people who knew her.
Ms Sines died suddenly on 4 June 2024 at an address in Jameston, Bracknell, Berkshire, despite efforts by paramedics to save her. In the immediate aftermath, Thames Valley Police treated her death as unexplained and arrested a 27 year old man from Woking on suspicion of murder. He was later bailed and, after further investigation, the police confirmed that no further action would be taken against him.
A full inquest opened at Reading Coroner's Court, concluding on 27 October 2026, more than two years after her death. Senior coroner Alison McCormick found that Ms Sines died of combined drug toxicity following a non-intentional, self-administered, multi-drug overdose, and said there was no evidence that she intended to end her life or that anyone else was involved in her death. The coroner described her as a highly vulnerable young woman whose background included childhood trauma, PTSD, domestic abuse, substance dependence, the loss of her children and homelessness, and said that Kirah had repeatedly exercised her own autonomy in ways that professionals around her considered risky, even though she was assessed as having the capacity to make her own decisions when not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Her death and the inquest drew attention to gaps in support for vulnerable women who have experienced domestic abuse, sexual violence and mental health difficulties, with the hearing examined as a domestic abuse related death review involving Surrey Police, Thames Valley Police, Frimley Health NHS Trust and Surrey County Council. News of the inquest's conclusion prompted renewed tributes to Ms Sines from her family, who asked that she be remembered as more than the circumstances of her death.
