Kyle Bickham

Kyle T. Bickham was a twenty-nine-year-old Chicago-area man remembered by his family as a hardworking son, brother, uncle and friend. He worked overnight shifts at an Amazon facility in Cicero, Illinois, and had held steady jobs since his teens. Relatives said he never got into the streets, loved making people laugh, and was a devoted Chicago Bears and Bulls fan who could name every player on the roster. His brother Chris recalled late nights playing Call of Duty together and a goofy humour that lit up family rooms.

On the afternoon of 7 September 2026, Kyle was riding a CTA Red Line train home after a Labor Day shift when, according to Chicago police, he became involved in an altercation with other passengers. Investigators said he was pushed from the moving train near the 69th Street station, struck the electrified third rail, and was then hit by another train. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified him and ruled the death a homicide. He was 29.

In the days that followed, his family gathered near the 69th Street station to pray and to ask witnesses to come forward. His father, Christopher Bickham Sr., described a kind, peaceful son and urged transit riders to speak up when someone is being ganged up on. A GoFundMe organised by Chris Bickham Jr. described Kyle as a light who was goofy, kind and caring, and sought help for a dignified homegoing. Local outlets including ABC7 Chicago, Block Club Chicago and FOX 32 covered the investigation. A fifteen-year-old girl was charged with first-degree murder and related counts; later, nineteen-year-old Katlar Parchman was also charged. The family continued to press for accountability and for better safety on the CTA.

This memorial centres Kyle as his family knew him: a worker going home, a sports fan, a brother and son. It does not treat his death as entertainment.
