María José Verdú was a Spanish politician from Mallorca who sat for Vox in the Parliament of the Balearic Islands from 2023 until her death. She was one of the party's longest serving organisers on the island, a local councillor in Bunyola and, in the regional parliament, deputy spokesperson of the Vox group and president of its Health Committee.

Verdú was born in Palma in 1968. She graduated in public administration management, also studied international relations and took postgraduate training in managing teams and projects. Before entering politics full time she worked for companies in the events business. Away from politics she was closely involved with the community of Palmanyola, in the municipality of Bunyola, where for two years she presided over the local association against cancer.

Her political career began alongside Jorge Campos in Actua Baleares, the movement that later fed into Vox in the islands. Within Vox she became manager of the party's regional headquarters and was elected a councillor in Bunyola. In the regional elections of May 2023 she was fourth on the Vox list for Mallorca, headed by Campos, and won a seat in the Parliament, where Vox's support was decisive for the investiture of Marga Prohens as president of the Balearic government.

In September 2023 she was elected president of the Parliament's Health Committee, and within her group she covered health and tourism. She became the group's deputy spokesperson and in 2024 chaired the parliamentary inquiry into the Balearic government's purchase of face masks during the coronavirus pandemic, known in Spain as the Koldo case. From 2025 she was responsible for management and finance on the provincial executive of Vox in the Balearic Islands, and she had been placed on the party's list for the next Spanish general election.

Verdú died in Palma on the afternoon of Friday 23 October 2026, aged 58, after a long illness that had kept her away from parliamentary sessions for several weeks. Her death was confirmed by her parliamentary group. Colleagues across parties, including Prohens and the Vox regional leader Gabriel Le Senne, paid tribute to her as hard working, rigorous and kind. She was survived by her husband and children.
