Mepe Dada was an Indian politician from Arunachal Pradesh who represented the Seppa East constituency of East Kameng district in the state Legislative Assembly from 1990 to 1995. Remembered as the first MLA from the Dadda Dawe community, he died peacefully at his home in Division IV, Itanagar, at about 10 am on 3 November 2026. He was 75.

He was born to Hofe Dada and Feme Gyadi Dada and came from East Kameng, a hilly district on the state's western side whose headquarters is the town of Seppa. Little else about his early life and schooling has been published.

Dada entered the Assembly at the 1990 general election, standing for the Janata Dal in the newly drawn Seppa East seat. He won with 2,461 votes, 51.22 per cent of those cast, narrowly ahead of the Congress candidate Atum Welly, according to Election Commission figures. During his five year term he was known for his attention to the welfare and development of the people of East Kameng. At the 1995 election he stood again, this time for the Indian National Congress, and finished third behind Bida Tako of the Janata Party and Atum Welly.

His death brought tributes from across the state's political leadership. Chief Minister Pema Khandu called it a great loss to the people of East Kameng and prayed that his family would find strength and solace in their memories of him. Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also sent condolences, and Home Minister Mama Natung visited the family home in Itanagar with Ealing Tallang, the sitting MLA for Seppa East.

The All East Kameng District Students' Union said his contributions and dedicated service to the district would always be remembered with respect and gratitude. The Dadda Dawe Welfare Society described his contributions to society as irreplaceable and honoured him as its first MLA. Mepe Dada was survived by three sons and three daughters.

Never heard the name before today, saw it on a world briefs roundup. 2,461 votes to get that seat in 1990 is a thin margin to build five years of work on, but by the sound of it he put real effort into East Kameng's roads and schools. Fair play to him for that.
