Oleg Breyev was a Russian regional politician from Kursk Oblast who spent most of his working life in agriculture and local government before winning a seat in the Kursk Oblast Duma in 2026. A member of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) for two decades, he served only 16 days in the regional parliament before his sudden death in October 2026.
He was born on 12 March 1972 in the settlement of Lachinovo in the Kastorensky District of Kursk Oblast, then part of the Soviet Union. His roots in the rural east of the region stayed with him throughout his career. He graduated from the Kursk State Agricultural Academy in 2002 and, eleven years later, completed a further course of study at an institute of economics and business.
Breyev began his working life as an engineer at the Aleksandrovsky Stud Farm No. 12, a horse breeding enterprise in the region. He later moved into the agricultural trade, and in 2026 he was working for Kursk Agroterminal, part of the Sodruzhestvo group of companies.
He joined the LDPR in 2005. His career in elected office began at the local level: in 2009 he was elected to the Representative Assembly of the Kastorensky District, its second convocation, and he was returned to its third convocation in 2013. In 2021 he was elected to the assembly of deputies of the Lachinovo village council, serving the community where he was born.
In 2026 Breyev was elected to the eighth convocation of the Kursk Oblast Duma on the LDPR party list, and he took up his seat on 8 October 2026. It was the highest office of a political life built over many years in district and village politics.
Oleg Breyev died suddenly on 24 October 2026, aged 54. Reports said he died in Moscow, and no official cause of death was given in the regional announcements. The Kursk Oblast Duma announced the news the same day, with deputies and the parliament's staff expressing deep condolences to his family and friends and saying that his memory would remain in the hearts of all who knew him and worked alongside him.
