Read about her in a wire story my cousin in Sheffield sent over. Heart attack at 14, gone by 20. Hell of a way to lose someone still working.

Rachael Booth was the headteacher of The Willows School in Thurcroft, near Rotherham in South Yorkshire, a special school for children and young people that is part of Nexus Multi Academy Trust. She died on Tuesday 20 October 2026, six days after suffering a heart attack at the school.
Mrs Booth led The Willows, on Locksley Drive in Thurcroft, which teaches pupils with special educational needs and runs a Post-16 provision. Parents, former pupils and colleagues described her as an inspirational, compassionate and energetic leader who went above and beyond for the young people in her care. Tributes from former pupils also recalled her earlier years as a much loved teacher at Valley School in Worksop. Her trust's chief executive spoke of "a career of public service where she touched thousands of lives, changing them for the better."
Under her leadership the school built close links with its wider community. Pupils from the Post-16 group were the first official visitors to the Parlour of the Mayor of Rotherham, Councillor Haroon Rashid, after his election, and gave him a hand drawn card of congratulation that he keeps on display beside his flags of office.
She was married with sons. Warren Carratt, chief executive of Nexus Multi Academy Trust, said she had "a deep and devout faith" and a strong belief "that there is a better plane of existence beyond the confines of this world."
On the morning of Wednesday 14 October 2026 she collapsed at the school after a heart attack. Staff worked to resuscitate her before emergency services took her to hospital, where she remained in a critical condition. The trust announced on the evening of 20 October that she had died earlier that day, and said the efforts of school staff had allowed her family and friends to be with her in her final days. The Willows closed for the rest of the week, with pupils due back on Monday 2 November 2026. Floral tributes were left at the school gates, and the Mayor said he was deeply saddened, adding that he knew "what a special school community she helped to create." The trust said the school community would come together when the time was right to celebrate her life.

In their own words
“Rachael had a deep and devout faith, and her strong belief was that there is a better plane of existence beyond the confines of this world. If that's true, then that place has become immeasurably better for welcoming Rachael Booth into it.”
Warren Carratt, chief executive of Nexus Multi Academy Trust, 20 October 2026

Same story got passed around my family too, she sounds like she earned every tribute.
