Sister Dolores Super, OSB, was a Benedictine sister of Saint Benedict's Monastery in St. Joseph, Minnesota, a musician, organist and music educator who spent more than three decades at the College of Saint Benedict, first as a teacher and chair of its music department and later as its academic dean. Her obituaries list her as Sister Dolores (Nathan) Super, recording the religious name by which she was known in her early years in the community. She belonged to the monastery for 80 years.

She was born Dolores Super in Little Falls, Minnesota, on 21 October 1930, the tenth of eleven children of Andrew and Elizabeth (Wielinski) Super, with six brothers and four sisters. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes Grade School and St. Francis High School in Little Falls and graduated from Saint Benedict's High School in St. Joseph. She entered Saint Benedict's Monastery on 26 August 1946, at the age of 15, made her first monastic profession in 1949 and her perpetual profession on 11 July 1952.

Music shaped her working life. She earned a bachelor's degree in music from the College of Saint Benedict in 1954, a master's degree in music education from Indiana University and a doctorate in music education from the University of Michigan. After serving as an organist and music teacher at St. Mary's Cathedral in St. Cloud and in Breckenridge, she joined the college's music faculty in 1960 and chaired the department from 1962 to 1977. She then moved into administration, holding several posts before serving as academic dean from 1986 to 1994. In the same years she chaired the board of trustees of St. Cloud Hospital, from 1984 to 1994, and served on the boards of CentraCare and Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague.

Back at the monastery she became community program coordinator, overseeing spiritual ministries, arts and heritage, and directed Studium, the monastery's programme for visiting scholars, from 1994 to 2008. Through all of these roles she played the organ for the community's liturgies. She marked her golden jubilee in 1999 and her 75th jubilee of profession in 2024, and in 2021 she moved to Saint Scholastica Convent in St. Cloud.

Sister Dolores died at Saint Scholastica Convent on Monday 28 September 2026, at the age of 95. No cause of death was made public. Saint Benedict's Monastery announced that she had entered eternal life, and her Eucharist of Christian Burial was set for 14 October 2026 in Sacred Heart Chapel at the monastery, with burial of her cremated remains in the monastery cemetery. She was survived by her Benedictine community and by nieces and nephews.

95 years old and 80 of them as a Benedictine sister. I just read the whole obituary out loud to my mom over the phone, the bit about her entering the monastery at fifteen stopped me cold.
