My dad called to tell me, of all things, since he'd seen it on some Polish news app he still checks. Said the name meant nothing to him but he knew I'd done a whole thing on Archaeopteryx for a doc pitch years ago and this was the guy behind half the citations. Small world from a payphone's worth of distance.

Pulled an all nighter in a dorm lounge in 1994 with the Butzer and Nessel book open next to a bag of pretzels, trying to make sampling theory make sense before a signal processing exam. It clicked because of that book. 98 years old, still can't believe it.
