Rob H. Cline, born Robert Harris Cline, was a Kentucky schoolteacher and coach who spent 27 years in the classrooms of Allen County High School and later served 16 years as mayor of Scottsville, the town where he was born and spent his life.

Cline was born on 27 April 1942 in Mount Union, near Scottsville, the son of Harris and Lois Cline. He graduated from Allen County High School in 1960 and from Western Kentucky State College in 1965, then went straight back to his old high school to teach. He stayed there for 27 years, working as an assistant and later head basketball coach, and as an assistant football coach, alongside Tommy Long, for Allen County's first football team under head coach Jim Myers.

He retired from teaching in 1992, the year his son Robbie graduated. Long after, he would greet former pupils with the words "You are one of mine," and then trade stories about the old days. For the next decade he and Tommy Long farmed, cooked steaks for the Cattlemen's Association and held court at the local coffee shop.

In 2002, after encouragement from family and friends and prayer with his friend Danny Patrick, he ran for mayor of Scottsville. He went on to serve 16 years, crediting City Clerk Gale Davis, city employees and colleagues for their support, and called those years some of the best of his life. After a brief illness in 2018 he retired from the mayor's office in 2019. He counted his recognition as a Wall of Fame Hometown Hero among his greatest honours. Even in retirement, his obituary said, he kept Scottsville and Allen County close to his heart, describing the town as the place he called home and held forever dear.

Cline was devoted to his family and especially proud of his four grandchildren. He died on 26 October 2026 at Cal Turner Rehab and Specialty Care, aged 84. His death was reported by WBKO and in an obituary in the Bowling Green Daily News, which gave no cause. He was survived by his wife, Linda, his sons Robert Jr. and JoeDan and their families, including four grandchildren. His funeral was set for 31 October 2026 at Scottsville Baptist Church, with burial at Crescent Hill Cemetery.

Mum rang me about this, said she used to watch his council meetings turn up online years back. Never been to Kentucky in my life but she was properly upset.
