my dad called me out of nowhere to tell me Manos died, he's not even Greek he just always talked about that old clip of him explaining why the state shouldn't own everything. 86. didn't know much else about him but apparently he was Finance Minister back in 92.

43. I keep looking at that number like it's wrong. My uncle went to Oxon Hill same years as him and swore Sweetney was the best big man PG County ever put out.

He was mayor when my parents moved there in 2008. They said he actually showed up, knew what needed fixing. Hard to find that kind of thing anymore.

I wrote my whole college essay about the 1984 campaign and what it meant for Black voters. Reverend Jackson made us believe we mattered. He really did.
