My dad showed me a clip of him years ago, the wig and the goggles and the whole Zambodia thing, and we just sat there laughing until we cried. Never been to Memphis but I felt like I knew him a little. 89 years old. That's a whole life lived exactly how he wanted.

my mom used to play I've Just Begun to Love You every single Saturday morning while cleaning the house, that record basically raised me. Just found out about Kevin Spencer while scrolling before bed and had to sit with it a minute. 71 years old.

Just got off the phone with my mum, she called before I'd even seen it online. Had the Bigger Splash poster on my dorm wall for four years. Strange to think about that blue today.

I read that he died surrounded by family in Oxfordshire, and I'm glad for that. His films always made space for the strange and difficult parts of being human. We needed him.

I heard him conduct Rossini at La Scala when I was backpacking through Milan. The whole theatre was on its feet. He made music that was alive, not stuck in amber.
