Saw this on my phone during lunch and just sat there for a minute. My uncle had a pacemaker too, we lost him last year, so reading she kept racing with one at ninety got me more than I expected. 360 marathons. Never heard her name before today, wish I had.

I only knew her story through the documentary my book club watched last year, A la poursuite des genocidaires. My mom called tonight to tell me she'd died and we just sat on the phone not saying much for a minute. Thirty years is a long time to carry that kind of fight. Thinking of her husband and their family tonight.
