Just read an old piece about FRSC's road safety campaigns under him, didn't even know he'd left the post. 62 is no age.

Dauda Ali Biu was a Nigerian road safety administrator who served as Corps Marshal, the chief executive of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), from July 2022 to May 2024. He died on the evening of Sunday, 11 October 2026, at a hospital in Abuja, at the age of 62, less than two years after leaving the top job he had worked toward for more than three decades.
Born in 1964 in Sabon Gari, Zaria, in Kaduna State, Biu joined the FRSC in 1988, in the agency's formative years, and spent his entire working life rising through its ranks. He became assistant corps marshal in charge of Finance and Accounts in 2014 and Deputy Corps Marshal in 2016, before being appointed deputy corps marshal in charge of Finance and Accounts at FRSC headquarters in Abuja, where he oversaw the organisation's financial administration. He held a Master of Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and was a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of National Accountants, qualifications that underpinned his reputation as a finance specialist within a uniformed agency.
In July 2022, President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Biu Acting Corps Marshal following the retirement of his predecessor, Boboye Oyeyemi, making him the seventh substantive head of the Corps. In that role he led the agency responsible for enforcing traffic regulations, promoting road safety and working to reduce road crashes across Nigeria, a country where road accidents are a persistent public health and economic concern. He served as Corps Marshal until May 2024, capping a career inside the organisation that spanned nearly four decades.
Beyond his FRSC career, Biu held the traditional title of Jagaban Sabon Gari, reflecting his standing in his home community in Zaria. His professional honours included the designations FCNA and CPA, and he was a recipient of Nigeria's National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM).
News of Biu's death spread on Sunday afternoon and evening, first through social media posts from associates and later confirmed by family. A nephew, Adamu-Isa Gunda, confirmed that Biu had died at a hospital in Abuja and said his remains would be transported to Chikaji, Sabon Gari, Zaria, for burial according to Islamic rites. The current FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, said he received the news with profound shock and described his predecessor as a distinguished officer whose career was defined by dedication and discipline. Tributes also came from political figures, including Sadiq Ango Abdullahi, a member of Nigeria's House of Representatives for the Sabon Gari federal constituency, who announced the death publicly and called it a loss to the nation. As of this writing, the circumstances and official cause of Biu's death have not been made public.
