Domanlal Korsewada was an Indian politician from Chhattisgarh who served two terms as the Bharatiya Janata Party member of the Legislative Assembly for Ahiwara, a seat in Durg district reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates. At his death he was the sitting MLA for the constituency and the oldest member of the state assembly elected in 2023.

He was born on 12 August 1948 in Ahiwara, the son of Nammu Das Korsewada. He studied at Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University in Raipur, where he earned a master's degree in political science in 1985 as well as a Bachelor of Education degree. For many years he worked in education as a lecturer, retiring in 1998 to take up politics full time. In 1999 he became personal assistant to the then member of Parliament for Durg.

Korsewada won Ahiwara for the BJP at his first attempt in the 2008 assembly election. The seat went to the Indian National Congress in 2013 and 2018, when Guru Rudra Kumar won it. The BJP fielded him again in 2023 and he took the seat back, polling 96,717 votes against 71,454 for the Congress candidate and winning by 25,263 votes. In October 2025 the state government appointed him vice-chairman of the Scheduled Caste Development Authority, a post he took up in November 2025 alongside his work as an MLA.

In early October 2026 he was moved to Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad for treatment of a lung ailment. He died there on the afternoon of Friday 30 October 2026, aged 78, his representative Dilip Patel told the Press Trust of India. He was still in office when he died. He was survived by his wife, a daughter and a son.

Chhattisgarh BJP president Kiran Singh Deo said Korsewada had dedicated his life to public service, the party organisation and the development of his constituency, calling his death an irreparable loss to the BJP family and to the politics of Chhattisgarh. News of his death brought mourning across Ahiwara, Durg and Bhilai, where he was remembered as a teacher who turned to public life and a senior voice of the party in the state.

I literally just read about him being the oldest MLA elected in 2023, came back to check the story and saw he'd died. 78. That's so sad.
