so I never heard of this man until about four days ago, I was reading about the composer Deva dying and some documentary rabbit hole on youtube led me to a song called Thanjavooru Mannu Eduthu from a film called Porkkaalam, 1997, and I don't speak a word of Tamil but something about the voice just stopped me, it's got this earthy quality, like a weight to it, and I kept it on repeat while I was supposed to be reading about orbital mechanics for a class, now I find out he died only days after Deva did, 75 years old, in Chennai. anyway. 300 plus songs apparently. edit: found out he started out as a weaver before he ever sang professionally, that stuck with me for some reason
