I met Ludwig once, very briefly, and they were kind to a nervous stranger. That's what I'll remember.
Their story
Beethoven wrote nine symphonies, 32 piano sonatas and the late string quartets while going almost completely deaf. The Ninth Symphony, with its Ode to Joy, was composed when he could no longer hear it performed.
In their own words
“Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy.”

Sending love from England.
Couldn't agree more.
