Sanford and Son was the one show my dad and grandfather could watch together without arguing. Every Saturday rerun, our little kitchen in Jersey, grandpa doing Fred Sanford's voice before the line even landed. 95 years old. Didn't know the name until today but I knew every word he gave Fred.

My dad had La Biblia on vinyl and played Presente every Sunday morning while he made coffee, that scratchy old copy from when he first left Buenos Aires. I didn't understand half the lyrics as a kid but I understood the feeling. Calling my mom right now, she's the one who's really going to feel this.
