I honestly don't know what to say about this one. Shot at his own home, at 60, after a whole life of titles and politics and businesses. I only knew the name from the 1992 European taekwondo win, read about it years later while going down some Balkan sports history rabbit hole. Strange, sad way for that story to end.

Didn't know him, only read the obituary my aunt in Marshfield sent around. Thirty plus years on the trading floor and what people actually remember is him showing up for seniors through Home Helpers after he retired. That part's worth something.

My mom called me in Lisbon this morning just to tell me Wink Brown died. She lives two roads over from Arrington and said he was the one who got that fire department standing back in '87. Never met the man, but growing up you just knew that name if you were from that part of Williamson County.

My dad played New York Dolls records when I was a kid and I never understood them until I was older. By then David was on the radio telling stories about Duke Ellington and Bo Diddley like he'd known them personally. He probably made everyone feel like that.
