My dad had us watch Notre Dame highlights every fall growing up in Minnesota just because of Holtz, even though he barely coached here. Found out on my lunch break and texted my dad before anyone else. 89 years old, that man gave people decades of Saturdays.

ok so this is going to sound random but I found Phool ko Aankha Ma on a youtube rabbit hole like two years ago, I didn't even understand the words, I just had it translated line by line by a friend from Kathmandu over text at like 1am and I remember just sitting there, I don't even know why it hit me that hard, and now I'm reading he was 93 and wrote that when he was so young, anyway. I'm sorry if I'm not saying this right. rest well

Not someone I followed, baseball's not my thing, but 1,390 wins is wild. Forty three seasons at one school. That kind of loyalty doesn't really happen anymore.

For Dakila Cua · 15 Sept 2026
I only learned about Governor Cua from the news today but his quote about communities being the backbone really stuck with me. Rest well.

I read Waiting for Mariang Makiling in a Philippines Studies class and it changed how I think about stories and land. Thank you for that.
For Laura Cardoso · 19 Aug 2026
I grew up watching her on Globo with my avó. She made those stories feel like home. Rest well, Laura.
For Frank Gehry · 30 Jan 2026
Frank Gehry designed a building and accidentally saved a city. Then he did it again. And again. Not bad for a kid from Toronto who built cities out of scraps.
For Mario Vargas Llosa · 11 Aug 2025
I read The Time of the Hero in a college class and it changed how I thought about power and truth. Rest well.
For Sir Michael Gambon · 5 Aug 2025
He made Dumbledore feel like a real person and not just a character from the books. That took real skill.
