Lost my brother to the same thing last spring, so this one lands harder than it should for a man I never met from a country I've never been to. Found him years back reading about Commonwealth parliaments for fun, that 57 to 57 tie in 2000 where he wouldn't use his own vote to save his own job. Read that story twice, told my dad about it on the phone. 82. Too soon for someone who still had the fruit trees and the river in him.

Saw this on the local news out of Tampa and it stopped me cold. Never knew the man, but taking on a case against someone who ends up doing this to you, that's a kind of courage most of us never have to find. Forty one years old and never found. Terrible.

My mother called me about this one, she still gets the Sioux Falls paper sent to her. Never met the man but Gettysburg is close enough to where she is that half the town seems to know a Whiteis. Thirty five years married is the kind of thing that should get more notice than it does.
