"If you got any benefits from my work, I'm asking you to pay it forward as best you can." going to try to actually do that this year.

For James Becket · 25 Sept 2026

okay so i was doing a film history project last spring and kept running into Becket Films in the credits of these old documentaries and i went down a whole rabbit hole, started with the ecology one about Vandana Shiva because i needed something for a sustainability elective, then found out the same guy basically helped expose torture under the Greek junta back in like 1967, which is insane, a lawyer AND a filmmaker, i didnt even know that was a career path you could just have. anyway i never got to email him even though i thought about it for the project, kept putting it off, now i feel dumb for that. rip, 89 is a long life but still weird to think about someone whose work you were literally watching a few months ago just being gone now. edit: it was Barbarism in Greece, not Barbarians, got the title wrong first time i wrote this

Ran a camp I went to when I was maybe eleven or twelve, out in Arizona somehow, and he'd stay after everyone left just rebounding for you until your shot looked right. Never once rushed a kid. 43 years old, that's nothing.

For Owen Ndlovu · 16 Sept 2026

Never met him but watched his football coverage on SABC Sport when I was in Jo'burg. The energy was real.

For Mary Gaudron · 13 Sept 2026

Justice Gaudron shaped the law on equal pay and native title. Her work mattered beyond Australia.

Reached 100 and spent most of it fighting. That's the legacy.
