Early life

Zenyazen Roberto Escobar García was born on 4 June 1984 in Nogales, Veracruz. Wikipedia and La Razón use that birthplace. One Infobae career sketch says Río Blanco. The two places are not merged here. Nogales is the birthplace used on this page.

His parents are not named in the sources used here. The public record of his youth is thin until his work as a teacher and the later circulation of a photograph from the Orizaba-area bars, showing him beside a Tarzán Boy advertisement. He later said he had practised bodybuilding for eleven years and had competed nationally in Puebla.

This page is the Veracruz teacher and Morena politician. It is not Pablo Escobar, and it is not any other Escobar.

Education

He was trained first as a classroom teacher, then as a communications graduate, then as a master's student in education. In 2018 he earned a licenciatura in communication science at the Universidad de Sotavento, as recorded by Infobae via the national professional registry. In 2021 he completed a master's in education science at the Centro de Estudios Avanzados de las…

Career

In 2007 he worked in Supervisión Escolar Zona 609 of state telesecundarias. In 2009 he became a telesecundaria teacher. His site places him at Francisco I. Madero in Córdoba. From the teachers' dissidence, the Movimiento Magisterial Popular Veracruzano in 2013 and Educación, Resistencia y Dignidad Magisterial in 2015, he entered the Veracruz Congress in 2016 as a Morena plurinominal deputy…

Personal life

He was married for more than 25 years to Liliana López Coronado. His site names their two daughters, Darian and Victoria, which matches the Wikipedia statement that the couple had two children. López Coronado had been the state attorney for the protection of children. In the June 2025 judicial election she won a family-judge place on the Superior Court of…

Beliefs and views

He was a Morena politician of the Fourth Transformation and a product of the Veracruz teachers' opposition to the 2013 education reform. He described teachers as agents of change and of transformation, and he told new teachers that the country needed them in classrooms, including remote ones. He defended the new free textbooks as the work of teachers, not a…

Legacy and impact

His public footprint is the Veracruz classroom more than a body of national law. He ran the state education secretariat through the pandemic recovery and the arrival of the new free textbooks, and he used that office to celebrate long-serving teachers in gatherings of thousands. As a federal deputy he sat on climate, naval, and economy committees and used the…

Awards and honours

No personal decoration, order, or honorary doctorate is recorded in the sources used here. Public recognition he received in office was institutional: appointment as education secretary, Morena's state caucus coordination in the Veracruz Congress, election to the Chamber of Deputies, and committee secretaryships. No prize is added beyond those offices.

Media and popular culture

He appears in Mexican news video as education secretary, as the Morena deputy in the 28 May 2026 San Lázaro clash, and in death coverage from 4 September 2026. A June 2026 interview published by Rodrigo Crosa has been circulated as his last long interview. One of those headlines uses the word assassination. Officials had not settled that word, and…

Controversies

Three documented controversies sit on the record. First, the Tarzán Boy photograph and the press description of earlier work as an exotic dancer, which opponents later used as an insult. Second, a yacht fire on the Riviera Veracruzana about a week before 28 May 2026. He denied the yacht was his, and four women were reported injured. Third, the 28…

Death

On 4 September 2026 he was found dead in a Mercedes-Benz at La Gloria, Puente Nacional, Veracruz, on Federal Highway 140, with at least one gunshot wound to the head. He was 42. The car, Nahle later said, was locked from the inside, with one bullet recovered. State prosecutor Lisbeth Aurelia Jiménez confirmed the death. The FGR assumed the case because he was a federal deputy. President Sheinbaum asked for updates and refused an early opinion.

As of 8 September 2026 the manner of death had not been officially concluded. A farewell was reported by Imagen del Golfo. A cemetery or mausoleum has not been named in the sources used here. Wikipedia dates the death as circa 4 September 2026. The hour of death was not published.
