Just read this at my kitchen table and had to put my coffee down. My sister teaches ESL in the Bronx and swears by Wong Fillmore's work on kids losing their first language, she used to quote her to us at dinner. 92 years old and still fighting for those kids till the end.

My mom called me the second she saw it, she grew up skiing near Holmenkollen and said this man basically ran the place her whole childhood. I'd never heard of him before today but she was almost in tears describing some march he started in the 70s that she did every year with her dad. 84 years old, that's a whole life spent on one mountain.
