For Lucian Piane · 12d ago

"We're all people in this world." That's what he said about the Bale remix. Fair way to put it. 46.

For Fred Claire · 19d ago

91 on his own birthday, that's a strange thing to sit with. I keep thinking about Reuss and Hatcher, the moves nobody liked at the time, how he just went and did it anyway. Gibson's homer gets all the airtime and fine, it should, but Claire built that whole roster in a few months after Campanis. My father used to say the front office never gets credit and he'd point at Claire as the exception. Watched the highlight again tonight, the banner still says 1988, that's enough I guess, that's what he said himself.

For Bernard Brizay · 26d ago

85. Read the Summer Palace book once, never forgot it.

For Jim Whittaker · 19 Sept 2026

1963. First American on top. 97 is a hell of a run.

For Annie Dillard · 15 Sept 2026

South Wellfleet now a little emptier. She saw things the rest of us miss.

For James "Gypsy" Haake · 14 Sept 2026

Broadway gypsy, 94 years old, still doing the thing he loved. That's a life well spent.

For Mike McFarland · 9 Sept 2026

Watched Dragon Ball with my son in the late 90s. McFarland made it feel real to us.

For Yves Brunier · 7 Sept 2026

Footix brought the '98 Cup home. Most people forgot who made him move. Brunier didn't need the credit.

For Iskhak Mashbash · 7 Sept 2026

Lived through Stalin, survived, built something. Not many can say that.

For Jan Frycz · 7 Sept 2026

72. Good run. Poland lost a real one.

For Alexey Vishnevetsky · 6 Sept 2026

Sixty is too young. A thousand documentaries without a single error. That's a craftsman.

For Cheryl Hall · 9 Aug 2026

Never saw much of her work but my wife loved Doctor Who. She was upset this morning when I told her about Cheryl Hall. One of those faces that belonged to Britain.

For Chris Cornell · 12 Oct 2025

Temple of the Dog meant something. He honored a friend and created a bridge between worlds. That matters.

For James Earl Jones · 26 Aug 2025

Heard that voice on CNN every night for decades. Then you knew something mattered. He made you listen.

I remember that story too, it was on CBC. he called it a "really-made," art that's also literally real
