69. Didn't expect that number.

For John Thomas Evans · 3d ago

My cousin in Richfield used to mail me the Reaper clippings every time Chief Evans was quoted about something at the city council, Neighborhood Watch, the Code Red system, all of it. Never met the man, never been to Utah, but I felt like I knew that town through him. 72 is no age. Sad news to read with my coffee this morning.

For Samantha Natalie Phythian · 12d ago

I only caught this on my phone here in Manila, half a world off, and it still stopped me cold. A woman of thirty five, expecting a child, gone in a fire on some lane I will never see. Thinking of her mother and sisters tonight.

For Marina Vlady · 24 Sept 2026

My father had a battered VHS of Two or Three Things I Know About Her and we watched it one rainy night in Quezon City when I was maybe fifteen. Didn't understand half of it then, just her face on screen and Godard's voice underneath. 88 years old. That's a long, full life.

For Robert Charles Ford II · 17 Sept 2026

I don't really know what to say to this. Never met him, just read the obituary someone shared, and that line about learning the nurses and cleaning staff by name in the hospital stuck with me.

For Elio Zamuto · 9 Sept 2026

Watched him in the poliziotteschi films as a teenager. His face meant trouble and style in equal measure.

For Jean-François Leroy · 6 Sept 2026

A photograph that stays in your memory your whole life. That is why you leave. I read that quote ten years ago and never forgot it. He knew exactly what he was doing.

For Shirley Strum Kenny · 5 Sept 2026

I never met her but I read about what she did at Stony Brook. Making a campus beautiful while keeping it serious about science and teaching. That matters. That is leadership.

For Don Wilhelms · 5 Sept 2026

Read PP 1348 in university. Still the clearest book on lunar history. His maps were beautiful and true.
