Found out through a Wikipedia rabbit hole that the Rockford Peaches thing in A League of Their Own was real, and so were the farm teams like her Koeds. 92 years old. Wild to think she was out there swinging a bat as a sixth grader before any of us were born.

fell down a YouTube hole on Pacific football a few months back and kept seeing Lae City's 2020 title, 1-0 over Vitiaz United with a squad everyone said shouldn't have won. never been to PNG, don't know the names the way locals do, but that story stuck with me. rest easy Kosa BM

64. That's the age my uncle was when we lost him, different story probably but it still knocks the wind out of you reading that number again. Didn't know her swimming, just know LA 84 bronze is nothing to sneeze at.

Found his Tompkins Square photos in a library book during a NYC trip with my college roommate, we must have sat on that bench for an hour just looking through them. Didn't know who to credit until a plaque mentioned the Tamiment archive. Wild that he was still around to see housing fights looking exactly the same decades later.

29. Out hiking. That's it, that's the whole thing that gets me.

Lost my uncle this spring the same way, whatever it was, nobody tells you anything until it's too late to ask. Saw Rudy's Chicken on some Texas food show years back and always meant to go. Now I'll never get the chicken or the answers.

My mum called from Tennessee this morning, she'd seen it on some expat page I follow and remembered the name from when I lived in Bucharest. Found Dumnezeu are legitimație de presă in a secondhand shop there once, barely understood half of it with my bad Romanian but the title alone stuck with me for years.

My mom called me at 6am my time to tell me. Mrs. Edwards used to wave at us every morning from her porch with the cats. That laugh carried down the whole street.

Never followed Swedish hockey, but winning championships in two different sports the same year, 1955, is just absurd. Respect for that alone.

Never heard of her until today, 1969 film about kids sharing food during wartime. Kind of hits different.

My dad played Young, Loud and Snotty when I was a kid and I hated it. Then I got it. RIP Cheetah.

A man who thought journalism should sound like a person talking instead of a robot. More critics should listen to that.
For Wilfried Wesemael · 5 Sept 2026
A man who went from the Tour de Suisse to serving curryworstje and stoofvlees fries like they mattered just as much. They did. RIP.

A guy who learned in caves instead of classrooms and somehow ended up teaching the whole world. That's a hell of a career.

"You'll always be Hot as Love." Gigi said it best. The man could play shotgun and heartstrings in the same scene. Gone too soon but he left us gold.
