For Bruno Spaggiari · 1d ago

My father called me this morning just to tell me Spaggiari had died, he always talked about that 1972 Imola race, the one he lost on the last lap for a few drops of fuel. I never understood why that story stuck with him so much until I read more about it myself.

For Sandro Mazzola · 18 Sept 2026

My father was from Turin and kept a scrapbook of the 1970 World Cup final, Mazzola's name circled on the team sheet. I read it cover to cover as a girl in New Jersey without understanding a word of Italian. Eighty three is a long life but this still landed hard.

For Richard Moravek · 18 Sept 2026

I came across Redstone while researching Central European property funds for a report, and that line of his stuck with me, projects that will outlive us. He founded the group in 2015 and by all accounts kept expanding it right up to the end. A serious loss for Olomouc's business community.

For Lora Bumps · 16 Sept 2026

Ms. Bumps represented a particular American tradition, one in which creative practice and the simple pleasures of food and community were not separate from a serious artistic life, but central to it. Her passing marks the end of an era.

For Eugenia Apostol · 13 Sept 2026

The Philippines lost a foundational figure in independent journalism. Her career demonstrates that editorial courage and professional integrity are not incompatible with commercial success or longevity. Few publishers leave such a legacy.

For Grace Nortey · 1 Sept 2026

Grace Nortey's advocacy for formal actor training and ethical industry standards established a professional standard for Ghanaian performance. Her mentorship and example will influence generations. A significant cultural loss.

For Francesco Guccini · 10 Aug 2026

A towering figure in Italian letters. His work as a cantautore, novelist, and intellectual set a standard for artistic independence that influenced generations. The body of work speaks for itself.

For Eric Dane · 24 Feb 2026

Mr. Dane's courage in his final year set an example for all of us. His advocacy work will outlive him.
